backgroundCriminal History Search:  When you order a Criminal History Report from APA, we dispatch a records retriever to each applicable jurisdiction to obtain the most complete and up to date records. A complete review of misdemeanor and felony cases directly from the applicable Superior and Municipal Courts in each jurisdiction. Completed reports will include the date filed, charges, level of the charges, disposition date and final disposition. Most criminal history searches take 2 to 3 business days to complete. A comprehensive search of federal offenses on record in all Federal District Courts of the U.S. can also be conducted.

Motor Vehicle Reports list all infractions within the past three to five years and verify the status and classification of license. This report can reveal a propensity for recklessness and being under the control of alcohol or drugs which an employer may utilize for non-driving applicants. This is an important search for applicants who are required to operate their vehicle for business purposes and/or driving a company vehicle.

Case Study

Problem:  A company that provides valet parkers and parking attendants is about to extend a job offer to a candidate when they receive information that the applicant may have been convicted of Auto Theft in a northeastern state. His application states that he has resided only in Florida.APA is requested to determine if the information is valid so they can make an informed hiring decision.

Process: APA conducts background research and verifies the applicant’s social security number. It is determined that prior to residing in Florida, he was a resident of Pennsylvania. A criminal check is conducted.

Result: Research reveals that the applicant slightly changed his social security number. The correct SSN is determined and it is learned that the applicant was, in fact, arrested and convicted for auto theft as well as arrests for misdemeanor theft charges. The company denied employment.
